BPO employees to be counseled on New Year celebrations - Andhra Cafe
December 29, 2006 (Hyderabad):
Software professionals and employees of call centres and BPOs have been
asked not to indulge in drunken revelries on the New Year’s eve.
The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom)
will conduct special counseling classes for BPO staff to ensure “safe”
New Year celebrations this time.
IT whizkids have specifically been asked not to indulge in drunken
driving to celebrate the dawning year. These special counseling classes
are being held in response to letters written by the city police to
Nasscom to ensure safety of the BPO employees.
This was done in the backdrop of a couple of accidents involving BPO
employees on New Year’s eve celebrations last December.
Additional commissioners of police A.K. Khan (traffic) and Rajiv Trivedi
(crimes) told media persons that restrictions had been imposed on speed
limit of vehicles on New Year’s eve. “While it is 20 kmph for
two-wheelers, it is 30 kmph for four wheelers,” they said. “Anyone
crossing these speed limits would be arrested”.
The senior police personnel stressed that their intention was not to
spoil the fun but only to ensure safety on the roads. “We will detain
drunken drivers and underage drivers,” said Khan. “Drunken drivers will
be produced before court the next day”.
Traffic would not be allowed on flyovers (apart from Begumpet) from 10
pm to 2 am on December 31 and check posts would be set up in 57 places.
